Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE)

At SS John & Monica Catholic Primary School, PSHE plays an important part in helping our children to grow into happy, healthy, confident, respectful and responsible individuals. Rooted in our Catholic mission, “to love, respect, understand and value each other,” our curriculum supports children to understand themselves, build positive relationships, make safe and informed choices and contribute positively to their community.

Our PSHE curriculum incorporates statutory Relationships Education and Health Education and is delivered primarily through Ten:Ten Resources’ Life to the Full programme. Through an age-appropriate and progressive curriculum, children learn about relationships, physical and mental wellbeing, keeping safe, online safety, personal boundaries, growing and changing, healthy lifestyles, rights and responsibilities, money and living in the wider world.

Safeguarding is woven throughout our PSHE curriculum. Children are taught how to recognise risks, identify trusted adults, speak out when something does not feel right and know where and how to seek help.

As a Catholic school, we place the dignity and worth of every person at the heart of our teaching. We work closely with parents and carers, recognising them as the first educators of their children, as we prepare our pupils with the knowledge, skills and values they need for life now and in the future.
