Class Saints

At SS John & Monica Catholic Primary School, each class has a designated patron saint who provides inspiration and serves as a role model throughout the school year.

Through learning about the lives of their class saints, children develop a deeper understanding of our Catholic faith and discover how ordinary people have lived extraordinary lives through their love of God, service to others, courage and commitment to following Jesus.

Children explore the stories, values and achievements of their saints, reflecting on the challenges they faced, the choices they made and the ways in which their faith influenced their actions. They are encouraged to consider how they can follow their example by showing kindness, compassion, forgiveness, generosity and respect in their own everyday lives.

Celebrating Our Class Saints

Each class celebrates the Feast Day of their patron saint as a special occasion in the school year. On these days, children have opportunities to take part in a range of creative, cross-curricular activities that bring the life and legacy of their saint to life.

Activities may include art, drama, storytelling, music, prayer, reflective writing and acts of service. These celebrations allow children to explore their faith in meaningful and engaging ways, making connections between the teachings of the Church and their own experiences.

Our Class Saints also provide valuable opportunities to explore Catholic Social Teaching, helping children understand how the saints demonstrated love, justice, courage and service to those in need.

By learning about and celebrating the lives of the saints, we aim to inspire our children to recognise that we are all called to holiness and that everyone, regardless of age, can make a positive difference in the world.

Through the example of our Class Saints, we encourage children to grow in faith, deepen their relationship with God and live out our school mission:

“We learn through the example of Jesus to love, respect, understand and value each other.”
