Physical Education
SS John and Monica school believes that physical education, experienced in a safe and supportive environment, is vital and unique in its contribution to a pupil’s physical and emotional development and health. The physical education curriculum aims to increase pupils' self-confidence through the ability to manage themselves in various situations. A balance of individual, team, cooperative and competitive activities aims to cater for individual pupil’s needs and abilities.
The scheme of work is based on progressive learning objectives, which, combined with varied and flexible teaching styles, endeavour to provide appropriate, stimulating, challenging and enjoyable learning situations for all pupils.
All children participate in PE, Sports, and physical activity. Children from Y4 to Y6 also swim.
There are opportunities to participate in P-E lessons led by sports specialists and coaches at certain times of the year in all years. This has come about through the liaison of our PE Lead with a network of primary and secondary school families, whose aim is to facilitate the provision of extra PE in the form of in-school and after-school clubs and tournaments.
